urban glam
I remember being 13-14 and desperately trying to get my mother to buy me some Baby Phat paraphernalia. I was upset every year when my mother laughed and took me to J C Penneys.
Going back I realize Baby Phat hasn't crossed the hill, the new fashion bump.
Everybody is starting to mesh. No longer are African American women wearing JUST Dr. Jays stock. Whenever I enter the Downtown Locker Room, Changes, etc. I look in disgust. I can't stand Dereon's lack of imagination, Baby Phat's slow progress, or Rocawear hitting a wall. I absolutely can't stand it and instead of people looking at the designs and the tacky logo all over tthe item, they pick it up and buy it because it's ROCAWEAR, BABY PHAT, and DTLR.
While I have a weakness for sneakers with gum bottoms and crazy textures, that's as far I'll vear into the urban sector. It's just a tacky spot to fall into.
Anywhoo. . .
Kia Vaughn is suing Don Imus. Last nite I was seriously considering suing the Game Board Company who produced Taboo, the game where you attempt to get your playmates to say a specific word given constrictions(words you are not allowed to say to describe it). They had Woody as one of the words. Every adult in there was thinking sexually, not the bird. I figured that if a female basketball player can get mad because this old man called you a nappy headed ho and a few other mean words., I can sue for something as stupid as "woody" being in a game that children could possibly play, because it could possibly be sexual.
I keep wondering, as an African American woman, I've got teased for my hair so much it's ridiculous. Suck that crap up. Learned to be a grown PERSON and suck it up. I can't imagine who is gonna hole their criticism from that woman now. "God, Kia you should fix the back of your hair." lawsuit. "Kia your feet are ashy" lawsuit. lawsuit. "Kia, you kinda smell like pickles" LAWSUIT. How can we be so sensitive we can't take a comment that we've already heard before, just because it's on tv. She prolly called some girl she doesn't care for that name. A chunk of people are probably calling her that as a joke and she can't take it anymore.
on to good things
... there are no good things today. ahwell.
